Size for the practice you will become

Compressors and suction units are rated by the number of surgeries they can support simultaneously. Count your chairs — then add the surgeries you might commission in the next five to ten years, because running new pipework and swapping plant later costs far more than specifying headroom now. Air quality is non-negotiable

Dental compressed air contacts the oral cavity, so it must be clean, dry and oil-free. Specify oil-free compressors with proper air drying — membrane or desiccant drying that keeps moisture out of your lines, protects handpieces and turbines, and prevents microbial growth in the pipework. This is one area where budget compressors cost more over time than they save up front.

Suction: performance and efficiency

Central suction plant should deliver consistent volume at every chair, even with all surgeries running. If you are replacing older fixed-speed plant, the energy savings alone often justify the change.

Amalgam separation and trade waste

Wherever amalgam is placed or removed, capture matters. Location, ventilation and access
